Box Four – First Presentation

Collin January 14, 2022
  1. Invite the child to the shelf, introduce the material, and have the child carry the box, in the usual manner, to the rug.
  2. Place the box in the upper right corner of the rug.  Remove the lid from the box on the lid.
  3. Re-Introduce the material.
  4. As in the other boxes, remove the contents of the box one piece at a time, and place them randomly on the rug.
  5. Match the gray equilateral triangles.
    • Place them on the rug, side without line on the bottom edge of the rug.
    • Trace the left side of the first triangle, and the right side of the other triangles except the last in which both sides are traced.
  • Slide the hexagon up to the upper left corner of the rug.

Next: Match the green equilateral triangles.

  • Place the triangles on the bottom part of the rug as shown below.
  • Trace the left side of the center triangle, and the top of the first.
  • Rotate the first triangle to match the center one and trace the double line.
  • Trace the right side of the center triangle, and then the top side of the third triangle.
  • Rotate the third triangle to match the center one, and trace the double line.
  • Place the trapezoid to the right of the grey hexagon.
  • Match the two red equilateral triangles and place them on the rug, lines facing upwards.
  • Trace the first, trace the second.  Rotate the second to match the first.
  • Slide the rhombus up to the right of the green trapezoid.

Next: Match the six red obtuse angled isosceles triangles.

  • Place them on the rug so that the black line on the longest side is facing the right.
  • Trace the first, then the second, rotate the second to match the first
  • Trace the double line.
  • Repeat the procedure for the third and fourth and for the fifth and sixth, making three rhombi.
  • Place the rhombi in a second row below the hexagon, trapezoid and the other rhombus.
  • Place the yellow equilateral triangle in front of the child, then slide it up next to the three red rhombi.
  • Review the total names of the figures, which the child should already know.
  • Review the individual parts, which she should know.
  • Replace in the box as follows:
    • Gray hexagon at the bottom.
    • Green trapezoid and the red equilateral triangles next.
    • Yellow triangle with the red isosceles triangles around it.
