Food Preparation

Following the tradition of countless cultures around the world, students in a Montessori environment take part in a variety of activities that help them connect to their own nutrition. These activities are numerous and the possibilities are endless, but at their core, they give context to the activities that students see their parents performing on a daily basis. Seeing the process of making orange juice, cleaning and peeling fruits and vegetables, as well as mixing, sifting, mashing, smashing, grinding and cutting are all part of the process that leads to independence. Here are some of the common activities we do in our classroom.
