Box One – Rectangle Box – Second Presentation

  1. Move the bottom-most figures, yellow rhombus and red trapezoid to the right of the rug, below the box.
  2. Start with the large green square, slide it down in front of the child and say: “This shape is called a _________ (allow the child a chance to answer) square.”
  3. Next bring down the large yellow parallelogram.  “This shape is called a ________ (allow the child a chance to answer) square.”
  4. Continue to name all the figures in order until two unknown shapes are found.
  5. Do a three period lesson with two unknown shapes.  On subsequent days, continue to present shapes until the child learns them all.

POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Touching the black line.
  • Matching the triangles.
  • Indirect superimposing when triangles fit in the box.
  • Naming the shapes and the various triangles used to make them.
