- Move the bottom-most figures, yellow rhombus and red trapezoid to the right of the rug, below the box.
- Start with the large green square, slide it down in front of the child and say: “This shape is called a _________ (allow the child a chance to answer) square.”
- Next bring down the large yellow parallelogram. “This shape is called a ________ (allow the child a chance to answer) square.”
- Continue to name all the figures in order until two unknown shapes are found.
- Do a three period lesson with two unknown shapes. On subsequent days, continue to present shapes until the child learns them all.
