Points of Interest

  • Seeing the different plane figures.
  • Tracing the insets.
  • Tracing the templates.
  • Inserting inset into proper templates.
  • Discovering a different set of plane figures in each drawer of the cabinet.

Control of Error

  • Each inset will only fit in its own template.

Direct Aims

  • Introduction of place geometric forms.
  • Development of tactile sense.
  • Development of visual discrimination of place geometric forms.
  • Growth in concentration and independence.

Indirect Aims

  • Development of motor coordination and control.
  • Preparation for writing.
  • Preparation for geometry.

Aditional Exercises

  • Child may use two rugs – insets in one, templates in the other and then match them up.
    • A mature child may take out 2 or 3 drawers at a time.
  • Place the insets in the middle of the rug.  Place the templates around the edge.  Have the child match them.

Extensions
